West Ham Eyeing Up England International To Replace Winston Reid
According to reports in today's Daily Mirror, West Ham could be lining up a summer move for the talented yet perennially relegated Steven Caulker, in the event that QPR face relegation this season. Sam Allardyce and - perhaps more notably - David Sullivan are known admirers of the dominant English centre-back, whose neat and tidy, ball-along-the-floor style of play appears very conducive with the so-called 'New West Ham'.
Caulker - who has one cap for the England national team - would almost definitely be part of a mass exodus if QPR were to go down, and would seem an obvious replacement for the Arsenal-bound Winston Reid when his contract expires in the summer. West Ham would be keen to keep in mind Caulker's 'relegation curse', however - for all his talents, Caulker's Cardiff faced relegation with a leaky defence and QPR seem next in line to do so. Will he finally flourish at West Ham? Or will they sink without a trace next year, with Caulker moving on once again to yet another mid-table Premier League club. Time will tell.
