Which World Cup Star Are Arsenal & Liverpool Set To Battle Over?
There's been plenty of attacking players who've impressed at the World Cup in Brazil, but the 'keepers have done their bit too. At times, it's seemed like Tim Howard, Vincent Enyeama, and Thibaut Courtois have set up force-fields around their goals, but arguably the most impressive has been Costa Rica's Keylor Navas.
No one thought Costa Rica had a chance of getting through their group with England, Italy, and Uruguay (no you didn't, stop lying to yourself), but they managed to finish top. Then Navas did his best Superman impression in the second round tie with Greece, making a number of ridiculous saves, then saving the vital penalty in the shoot-out.
His displays in Brazil are no fluke, and he made more saves than any other 'keeper in La Liga for Levante last season, attracting the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail.
Arsene Wenger wants a goalkeeper to replace Lukasz Fabianski, who signed for Swansea on a free transfer earlier this summer, and he views Navas as someone who can compete with Wojciech Szczesny for the number one spot at the Emirates.
At Liverpool, Simon Mignolet is a good shot-stopper, but he made a few costly errors last season, and Rodgers wants to bring in a proven alternative to keep him on his toes.
He has a release clause of just £6.5 million, which is well within the price range of both clubs.
Do Arsenal or Liverpool fans want to see Navas at their club next season?
