Why Liverpool Must Cash In On Suarez (& Sign Falcao...)
While, in recent seasons, Falcao to Chelsea has been one of the longer running transfer sagas of late as Chelsea and Mourinho look to find the final piece to their attacking puzzle, this week has seen Luis Suarez become the top target for Barcelona and, well, he did bite another bloke and has now been banned - INCLUDING FROM TRAINING - for four months, so things probably don't look great for Liverpool - unless they can beat Chelsea to the punch and sign the Colombian.
Monaco may have no choice but to offload Falcao soon in order to comply with UEFA's FairPlay regulations, and the Blues having favourable working relationships with both Monaco's Russian owner, and Falcao's agent, Chelsea look set to be in pole position to sign the striker but, while Chelsea have the financial clout, Liverpool have the undoubted aesthetic edge and the 28-year-old may be fed up of moving for the money.
While, as some Scousers have noted, they've already signed Rickie Lambert(!), Falcao would also offer another option for Rodgers, as the Colombian is an absolute, certifiable beast in the air meaning that the deep-block stumbling block at the tail end of last season will no longer be an issue.
While they remained impressive last term, Liverpool will need options to support the forwards, especially if Suarez moves. There's simply no one better than Falcao right now.
