Why Spurs Need To Beat Man City To Sign Nigeria Ace
Spurs are leading the chase for Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike ahead of Man City and Everton, according to the Daily Express.
The 27-year-old currently plays for Fenerbahce, and the pacy forward scored 12 goals and made nine assists in 28 appearances last season. Liverpool and Chelsea were linked with the striker recently, but both clubs are looking at other targets this summer.
New Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be targeting a striker this summer, and you can't really blame him. Roberto Soldado came in for £30 million and looked so terrible. Just the worst. He managed six goals in the league all season, and has been linked with an embarrassing return to Spain.
Emmanuel Adebayor should be one of the very best strikers around. He's got all the tools - he's quick, strong, skilful, powerful in the air and a good finisher. The problem is getting him to actually show those talents consistently, and on his bad days Spurs might as well be playing with ten players.
Emenike is a mobile forward who stretches defences, and he'd be an ideal target for Christian Eriksen's through balls. He'd cost about £10 million, but Spurs will need to move quick - Everton want him as a Lukaku replacement, and we're not sure why City need another striker, but they're after him as well.
