The Mirror have claimed that Aston Villa are ready to pay Hull £5.5m for their midfielder Tom Huddlestone.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood was formerly a coach at Spurs at the same time that Huddlestone played at White Hart Lane. The England international is 28-years old and will be keen to remain in the Premier League after Hull were relegated.
Huddlestone is undoubtedly an extremely skilful player and incisive passer of the ball, but his career has failed to hit the heights that it perhaps could have done due to injuries and a lack of pace.
Sherwood would certainly need to give Huddlestone plenty of support in midfield, surrounding him with players who could do the running that he’s unable to. If Sherwood doesn’t decide to build his side around the player, he could have a role as an impact substitute, as he was often utilised during Andre Villas-Boas first season in charge of Tottenham.
Here’s the man in action.
