A rundown of five of the best cars at this year's Paris Motorshow, from the Range Rover Evoque to Lamborghini's disgustingly fast Sesto Elemento Concept (0-60 in 2.5 secs, blimey!)

I’ve had to endure a trail of Twitter buddies (if that’s what they’re called) banging on about the Paris Motorshow recently. “Just on the Eurostar now, smells like cheese”, went one tweet. “Can’t wait to see the new Lamborghini”, read another. “Checking into hotel now” prattled on the next. Blah, blah, blah, it’s all very envious and I’d love to be there… but I can’t… poor me.

News and reviews will be flooding in over the next couple of weeks but here are the 5 motors that are currently hitting the headlines.

Ferrari SA APERTA

A 661bhp, topless version of the already massively sexy 599 GTO supercar. An uprated 6 litre W12 engine is rumoured, couple that with the non-existent roof (think instant weight-saving) and you have a motor that will seriously shift. Downside is the roof will be a clip-on fabric number, not great for good old English weather. Oh and it’s rumoured to be priced at £400,000.

Jaguar C-X75

This list wouldn’t be complete with out an electronically powered offering and what better model to highlight the capabilities of mankind than the Jaguar C-X75? Capable of reaching 205mph, sprinting from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds and blistering acceleration from 50-90mph in just 2.3 seconds, this all-electric is a shocking (see what I did there) force to be reckoned with. It runs on micro-gas turbines and looks insane… that’s all you need to know for now.

Range Rover Evoque

Launched by Posh Spice, this mini Range Rover is aimed directly at the yummy mummy market of current Chelsea tractor owners. It looks a bit like a female Storm Trooper and promises to be both desirable and fuel-efficient at the same time. The surprisingly small 2.2 litre petrol unit is said to deliver a 0-62 time of 7.1 seconds, making those sprints to Waitrose all the sprintier. With Mrs Goldenballs backing the campaign it’s bound to find a market.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept

The boys (and girls) at Lambo have been slowly releasing an array of teaser images to the motoring press of late, highlighting little patches of carbon fibre, sexy previews of cylinder blocks and close-up ceramic snaps. The full-picture reveals the Sesto Elemento (Italian for Sixth Element), a jaw-dropping new concept that’s rumoured to boast a screaming 570bhp V10 engine and a 0-60 time of a bonkers, face-melting… wait for it… 2.5 seconds. This thing is going to seriously blow the competition away.

BMW 6 series

BMW have stuck to their promise and launched a new model that has been directly influenced by the exciting and downright mad concepts of late. The bonnet looks directly lifted from the mental GINA Light Visionary Model that was constructed entirely from seamless fabric. Under the bonnet will host a variety of engines, including the brilliant 407bhp 4.4 V8 petrol unit.
