Liverpool’s musical heritage needs zero introduction. The city has a natural affinity for music in all its forms, but none more than rock. Absolute Captain are Rock. Heavy Rock. Not too heavy, mind, but one listen to them and you know that they are Very Fucking Rock.

Absolute Captain play the kind of music that makes you want to buy heavy-duty gardening equipment, or a 10% Belgian beer with a cork in it, or a great big dog. You’ll be impressed by your new surge in testosterone, but have the sensibility to not commit GBH.

A threesome hailing from Liverpool, Absolute Captain are making pretty big waves around the area as it stands. Their sound is raw, bluesy and broad in sound and technical accomplishment. However, this high watermark of musical ability does not detract from the core of their sound. Their gigs are raucous, beery, cathartic affairs very much in the spirit of the region’s best hard rock scene. So far, they’ve released two records on Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-please basis, and they sound pretty fucking exciting.

Their most recent effort ‘Juvenilia’ - released this year - is comfortably their best release to date. Lasting only 36 minutes, the album is remarkably dense, and draws from a multitude of influences and styles in a concise and fluent manner. The standout track from the album is “PAB”, an 11 minute scrotum dropper of a tune that takes up nearly a third of the entire album: because seriously, what is your album if it’s without at least one odyssey of a track?

Juvenilia has everything you could want out of a heavy rock album. Disgusting riffs? Yep. Skin-tingling bass-lines? You betcha. Coarse hooks and belting verses that explode into brain-frying choruses? Yes, yes, a million times yes. If that sounds up your street and you’re looking for a new, exciting rock band in your life, Absolute Captain are quintessential listening. Make no doubts about it, they are Really Fucking Rock.

Sutts, We're currently not playing live as we're preparing material for the second album. However, Mike has formed a band called Elevant who are developing the sound of P.A.B. further. They're currently mixing an album and they'll be touring the UK in 2015. They have a few dates announced for January/February on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ElevantMusik James, Absolute Captain
