The first episode of Channel 4's new show Utopia has just graced our screens and it is sure to be a hit for UK sci-fi and horror fans. Set around a group of graphic novel fans who find themselves in possession of a manuscript of a legendary graphic novel known as “Utopia”, the group have to go on the run from a shadowy organization known only as “The Network” who suddenly want them dead.
We think Utopia will be one of the television hits of 2013 and in honour of series, we’ve put together a list of some of the best graphic novels out there. Hopefully, being in possession of these wouldn’t put you on a run from conspiracy theorists!
Sin City by Frank Miller
You’ve probably seen the film with Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis and others, but have you read the graphic novels? Drawn in black in white save the odd flash of colour as per the movie, the collected Sin City graphic novels give greater depth to the miserable crime ridden place that is Basin City. Definitely worth picking up if you’re still waiting for a Sin City 2 film.
Superman Red Son by Mark Millar
“What if Superman was born in Communist Russia?” asks this wonderful graphic novel that turns the DC Universe on its head. Check it out for weird alternate universe were Lex Luthor is a "good guy" who eventually winds up President of the United States and Batman is a Russian rebel who slugs it out with Supes while rocking an awesome eskimo hat.
