In Britain we love a bit of DIY on the weekend. But when aiming to fix that squeaky cupboard door or “sort out the patio”, more often than not it ends up with and the cat stuck to the wall with no-more-nails and the supporting walls to your house knocked through. Despite our lack of DIY prowess, some people across Britain improve their homes in incredible ways that no interior design program would ever dream of. Here are some of the craziest home improvements we’ve found.

Star Trek Flat

Tony Alleyne in Hinckley transformed his flat into the Starship Enterprise, covering all windows and even removing his bed to make space. It cost him over £30,000 and took him ten years to complete something that Captain Kirk would be proud of. Beam me up Scotty!

The Headington Shark House

The shark house can be seen for miles around and people now flock to New High Street in Headington just to get a glimpse of this home improvement oddity.
