I was sitting looking at Right Move on my phone trying to find a house to buy near my son's school when a guy in the room said "Have you looked at Wowhaus? Its spelt like Bauhaus only with 'Wow' instead of 'Bau'." Twenty minutes later I'd ditched the idea of a modest family home in North London and was working out if I could scrape together a couple of million to buy a former RAF base in Norwich.
Failing that there was always a ready to be converted water tower in Essex somewhere. Or any number of fantastic modernist houses ranging from a Frank Lloyd Wright in Ohio to a curved white classic that looked like a salt cellar with a pool in Antibes. Now I'm not a student of modern architecture but spent page after page on this fascinating website. I was amazed so many stunning looking properties were left unsold. Is everyone living in wigwams all of a sudden?
Wowhaus collects the best of modernist properties advertised for sale on estate agents across the world and sticks them all in one place. If you've ever fancied living somewhere The Thunderbirds might have called home you'll be engrossed.
