1. His teachers told him he'd never do it

Teachers at his Chicago Jones College Prep High School ridiculed his aspirations to be a rapper and suspended him for 10 days for smoking weed. The result was the '10 Day' mixtape. his debut release which has been downloaded 20,000 times. Basically every time someone downloads his mixtape, the world gives a massive wanker sign to bitter old teachers.

2. His new mixtape is ace (and free)

Latest mix tape Acid Rap is one of the best things to come out of Chicago this year, full of soul and jazz inspired beats with a unique quick fire lyrical delivery. Themes range from life in Chicago's South Side to smoking too many fags and doing acid. "It's an allegory to acid, more so than just a tape about it" is how Chance described it to MTV. It's also free, and you can download it here.

"Down here it's easier to find a gun than a it is to find fucking parking spot", one of the standout lines taken from the Nosaj Thing produced Paranoia.

3. He's coming to the UK soon

Chance will be joining Macklemore in the UK this coming autumn, with shows in London, Manchester and Birmingham. It's likely that by that time the hype will all be about him.

4. His real name is Chancelor Bennett

Respect for that alone.

5. The camera loves this guy

New video directed by Illroots. Make sure to watch and learn the Bop (the dance that looks like a chicken). It's a lot easier to do than that footwork stuff.
