Bullet For My Valentine: 20 Tunes To Fill A Dead Dancefloor

by Bullet For My Valentine
8 February 2013

Sit back and leather up for the Welsh rocker's top tunes to get you moving, No DJ Sammy here...

The uninitiated among you might not be too aware of Bullet For My Valentine, unless you are a reader of Rock Sound or Kerrang!  Don’t let that deceive you though; the Welsh heavy-metal  rockers have sold over 3 million records over their career, and their album Temper Temper seems likely to send them stratospheric.   Before its release on the 11th Feb we asked lead singer Matt Tuck to name the foolproof tunes he’d drop to save a dancefloor dying on its arse.  Unsurprisingly, it was heavy on guitars and light on maracas…

AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long

I really could have picked any AC/DC song but this song has the best hooks and the lyrics are too good.

Avenged Sevenfold - The Beast and the Harlot

This is a massive tune, as are all A7X songs! Only stick this one on if you’re not shy of the club party mosh…

 Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench

This is a total festival song; Dave Grohl and co. dish out the goods time after time and this is no exception.

 Judas Priest - Painkiller

This is the number one song for headbanging, and Rob Halford’s vocals are insane. Any party is bound to kick off when this song drops.

Killswitch Engage  - My Last Serenade

If you need a track that’s bone-crushingly heavy, then Killswitch are a must-have at for rock-themed party playlist.

Michael Jackson - Thriller

How could I not include MJ!? Thriller is an absolute staple!

Pantera - Cowboys From Hell

Just listen to that opening riff! Nobody beats Pantera…This one’s bound to get people on their feet.

Irvine Welsh: 50 Songs I Love

Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name Of

Anything that snubs the X Factor is good with me, but aside from that the end really unites people, and that’s what you want from a party.

 Slayer - Rain in Blood

This is the heaviest, most brutal song anyone has ever listened to, period. It’s also got that killer riff that you can’t not air-guitar to – therefore it’s making the list.

Bullet For My Valentine - Hand Of Blood

Okay, so I had to put a Bullet song in here. If you want to know how a real party should look, check the video

Guns N’ Roses - Welcome to the Jungle

Gotta have a bit of classic Guns N’ Roses in the mix and I’m choosing this song purely because it’s the good-time anthem.

Aerosmith - Love In An Elevator

If you’re bringing a partner to the party this is the one to dance to…

 Black Sabbath - Paranoid

Sabbath are one of the reasons metal is what it is, and that gnarly opening riff will kick things off.

Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me

Def Leopard are pioneers in massive choruses and this one will have everyone singing along at the end of the night!

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama

Nothing like a bit of country rock! This is a good chilled-out one and will definitely get everyone in the mood for a good time.

Linkin Park - One Step Closer

One Step Closer is one of those songs that everybody screams along to when the chorus drops, which is exactly what you need from a party tune!

 Nirvana - In Bloom

You’ve got to have the kings of grunge somewhere on the playlist and this one’s a banger. A great song to get messy to.

Ozzy Osbourne-Crazy Train

Parties are supposed to be wild, and Ozzy is the wildest man in rock history. Enough said!

 The Prodigy - Breathe

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a band quite like The Prodigy and they always bring the party. This one’s a total classic.

Sepultura - Roots

This song it nuts! Although it’s not exactly a party classic, it’ll have people going crazy.

Slipknot - Wait and Bleed

The number one ingredient for any good party is energy, and this song delivers it in volumes.

If you like it, Pass it on
