In news that should surprise approximately no people, a man who formerly claimed to ‘cure’ homosexuality by encouraging people to ‘pray away the gay’ has come out and married his male partner.

John Smid led the Love in Action pressure group from 1990 to 2008 but has since denounced his anti-gay views and admitted to repressing his own sexuality for years.

Smid married partner Larry McQueen last week in Hugo, Oklahoma. He has since apologised for his views and to those put through the ‘gay cure’ programmes. This video sheds some light on the group’s activities.
