Chelsea: Could The Blues Pip Man United & Arsenal To Marchisio?

Relationships are a funny thing. One day everything’s going great - the next, you come home to find all of your belongings on the doorstep, and your WWE action figures strewn across the garden because she hasn’t even bothered to put them back in the original packag… Ahem.

Anyway, as love gurus have been expressing for years - ‘things might be rubbish now, but they will soon get better, and one day, when you’ve met the one, you’ll wonder why you shed so many tears whilst sat in your pants watching The Notebook’ (thanks Mum).

One man who can vouch for such wisdom is Chelsea’s jilted German winger, Marko Marin.

The ex-Werder Bremen starlet was sidelined by incoming boss Jose Mourinho over the summer - but has found true love down at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, tearing up La Liga for Sevilla.

And, like a smug and in-love Facebook friend, the flank tickler has already expressed his undying adoration for the Rojiblancos, with the Daily Star reporting that the winger wants to ‘stay there forever’.

And ever. And ever.

Not that the loss of the player, who has made just half a dozen top tier appearances for the Blues, will be of great worry to Chelsea fans - but the move could have greater consequences at the Bridge.

With the German having found ‘the one’ and ready to settle down, and Victor Moses also looking to depart in the summer, the door could open for Chelsea to strength their middle third further - and Mourinho is said to be eyeing Juventus vice-captain Claudio Marchisio.

Il Principino has been going great guns in Serie A this season, and his flexibility is something that will certainly appeal to his Portuguese suitor - as he has been deployed all the way across the midfield for his club, with great success.

Left wing, attacking central midfield, the holding playmaker - these are all roles which come easy to Juve’s number 8 - but last summer he mooted that he was feeling a little unwanted in Turin, and that has led to an array of attention from the Premier League.

But the transaction will likely not be a smooth one - as Arsenal, and (inevitably) Manchester United are also jostling for the signature of the Italian.

After shelling out £42.5 million on Mesut Ozil in the summer, Arsene Wenger has seemingly developed a taste for spending moolah - and apparently has lots more of it burning a hole in his pocket.

Without the lure of Champions League football, David Moyes may struggle to compete with his rivals, but is currently emailing the star photos of nice houses in the north west with pictures of both of their faces photoshopped into the window.

Either way, with two years of his contract in Turin left to run, the midfielder will not be an easy capture.
