Leeds: Cellino Knows He's F****d Up & Hock's A Dead Man Walking

Cellino's made an epic balls up and needs to fix it before it's too late...

Leeds: Cellino Knows He’s F****d Up & Hock’s A Dead Man Walking

The mangiallenatori chewed up and spat out his first manager at Leeds United early doors and is masticating furiously with his second, unbelievable scenes at Elland Road.

McDermott never had a chance having been appointed by the witless, clueless GFH crew and Hock getting the job based on anonymous tip off after a lengthy meeting in a hotel during which you can bet your bottom dollar Massimo did the vast majority of the talking had as much chance of success as a Doncaster virgin remaining intact on a Magaluf weekender.

McDermott was somebody else’s mistake, Hock is 100% self inflicted.

Cellino has done so much right at Leeds, from buying the club out of the evil clutches of the sand jockeys to bringing in a dozen new recruits, a good looking mix of experience and potential to giving our own talented youth a chance.

Appointing Hock and Junior was a brain fart of hurricane proportions, akin to appointing me after a successful spell with my lad’s under 14s 5-a-side.

Come to think it my scintillating blend of defensive solidity, imaginative midfield and predatory strikers playing a high tempo pass and move with explosive finishing would not only be more attractive to watch but also deliver success and results.

The current squad plus boy wonder aka Cellino’s lovechild Adryan & Sloth who despite his name is a promising Danish midfielder and a couple more with an injection of crucial width and pace roared on by the army of fans, even with meddling micro manager Massimo minus the deadwood is a massive opportunity for a proper coach.

After Saturday’s capitulation at Watford, the world held it’s breath as the Sheriff’s finger twitched over the trigger waiting for the bullet to be fired.

More…

Leeds: Who’d Take Hock’s Place?

There is no doubt Cellino is hurting and the fact that his experimental pluck from obscurity based on no more than a tip off and one meeting allied to a scattergun recruitment policy has delivered a set of unacceptable results. He is absolutely committed to making Leeds United a success and seeing them once again eat at the top table.

The Cellino regime expenditure so far is huge in our recent history, including an inflated purchase price, the full package has since been renegotiated, payment of a lot of existing and historical debt, court cases and an estimated £10 million in new contracts plus transfer and loan fees as well as contract pay offs.

The playing squad turnaround has been massive, 17 out, a dozen in with more to come and an expected splurge of activity including contract terminations before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

In an epic outpouring of pure, unadulterated, honest emotion featuring the biggest climb down since the latest descent of Everest, Massimo said he had decided to sack Hockaday on Saturday and was ready to do so until he spoke to him on Sunday evening. “If I fire the coach I should fire myself because I haven’t signed enough good players. How can that be his fault.”

Cellino says he’ll wait until the squad is finished before judging Hockaday. “Maybe he’s not a good coach but I can’t say yet.”

The cynics or perhaps realists or maybe just plain speculators all think that the stay of execution for Hock is merely waiting for Cellino’s next choice to become available, the rumoured names are already flying around.

Hock is a dead man walking, the already anti fans have had enough and are in a state of shock that he wasn’t a goner on Saturday, once a coach loses the fans, even the ones who were prepared to give him a chance, he has more chance platting fog than winning them round.

Knowing the president and his crazy ways, don’t be surprised if, in a bid to avoid any more controversy, he appoint Malky Mackay with Big Ron Atkinson as director of football.

Cellino is certain to be at the eye of a storm of frantic activity this week in a huge effort to finalise the squad, he hates being embarrassed, his ego will not contemplate failure and he bought Leeds United, a football institution, to succeed.

He has made one balls up of epic proportions, he must sort it out sooner rather than later, finish the squad but most important of all put them under the control of a proper coach and stop feeding a gourmet menu of players to a medieval peasant.

Leeds United need time to settle... its all new, owners. players and coaching staff, line up and style of football...patience should be the order of the day not sackings...the team need time to gel and so do the management including the owner.. Leeds United have seen too many changes over the past 10 years and thats why we are in this position.. A bit of stability will be proven given time..

Good article Paul though don't think Hock ever had the fans on his side. That's why the poor sod doesn't stand a chance. How can a failure at Conference level suddenly leap three divisions and be a success at the biggest club in the Championship? Like you I respect for the great stuff hes done to date and hopefully in the future. Hockaday was a calamitous mistake, based on cheapness and Cellinos egomania and hes got to put it right quick. Anyone else out there intrigued to know who the "agent" was who recommended Hockaday in the first place. Not something youd put on your cv is it-just hope the knob didn't get any financial gain out of it. Get James Brown to do some investigative journalism and find out who it was..

I was willing to give Hockaday a chance to prove he was capable of doing the job. How ever his persistence with keeping, Murphy, Austin and Tonge as three of his midfield is the end for me. Murphy has had plenty of chances to establish himself as a Championship player, which he most certainly is not. Austin is out of his class and Tonge has passed his sell by date. When I see these three on the team sheet I despair. The sooner we get a new coach in and Hockaday gone the better.

like most Leeds fans I was hoping cellino had somehow seen something in hockaday that us mere mortals had missed , sadly its not the case and its worrying that this appointment went ahead in the first place , I think we come up against a pretty good outfit this week in bradford, they will be confident and chapping at the bit for Leeds scalp , I think by Thursday afternoon hockaday will be gone after another clueless performance at bradford the night before...

bruce 3:29 pm, 25-Aug-2014

Know what. I'm fed up with being a defeatist, so I reckon we will play Bradford off their own park.I love it when a plan comes together, when, when, when.

This sorry affair has exposed the ignorance of Cellino and his associates about english football, a club which is world famous and a fanbase with matching expectations. Imposing a business model which worked at a club the equivalent of Norwich, doesn't work at Leeds. Appointing a non league manager was an insulting move which damaged our reputation, embarrassed the fans, and left the media incredulous. The problem is whether the club, ie Cellion can attract a decent coach, never mind appoint one . Unless we get a decent coach we will stumble from caretaker to no-mark to caretaker while the team ( and fans ) wonders what the fuck is going. I think it wi get worse before it gets better.

@SporcoLeeds 7:17 pm, 25-Aug-2014

Thanks Bert for your eminently constructive comment, nobody forces you to read you know.

Bert Lusconi 7:52 pm, 25-Aug-2014

I don't read your drivel. But if you take my "eminently constructive comment" to be an accurate portrayal of such self-indulgent nonsense ...... If the cap fits and all that.

@sporcoleeds 10:35 pm, 25-Aug-2014

No idea why you bother making comments on stuff you don't read, if you don't like it don't bother, I enjoy writing and the vast majority of readers enjoy reading it. It's your choice, I suggest you find some content that meets your taste.

Bluesman 10:48 am, 26-Aug-2014

Some of the articles are quiet good and much appreciated. I think yhis one however is not accurate,. Itvis built upon conjecture and not in very good taste. Itbis as though youvare willing the man to fail and in doing so undermining his situatjion. Cellino says give him a chance and wait snd see. Ingo along with that philosophy. I dont agree with some of Hock' decisions, but he has nit got a complete ir setlked side, which is still bedding in!

Ropey Wyla 10:57 am, 26-Aug-2014

I love Cellino, he can do no wrong and for me he hasn't. Hockaday has to be given a fair go before he is sacked but it does seem somewhat inevitable he will be.

alantuplin 11:09 am, 26-Aug-2014

Leeds.need.x.stoke boss.he get best out of then.get this man now.or simon grayson.x.Leeds boss.give him money.

Counte of monte fisto 11:11 am, 26-Aug-2014

I thought appointing Hockaday was insane, but once appointed he was our manager so I backed him 100%. It is now apparent that he is as clueless as I feared, why is Poleon getting more game time than Smith. Why are Austin, Murphy and Tonge in the starting 11. Why is Billy Sharpe being taken off when the problem is no service not him missing chances. Why does he need half time to change the abomination that was Brighton. Why the tired plaudits about working hard when we clearly aren't competing. Why blame a defender playing his first game in England in the week he moved half way across the continent. Why buy cooper then not pick him, why give the young guns a run out then drop them. The list of his screw ups is so long already I. Can't be bothered to go through it all. I was right with my gut feel he is clueless hence why he was an unemployed ex coach Problem is who would come to coach under these circumstances. Also before everyone gets overly excited about Sloth he was in a midfield that was relegated to Denmarks second division last season, that's the equivalent of Forest Green we need real quality not quantity. I like Cellino and still back him 100% but he needs to stop and think quickly otherwise it could be too late

TAZ 57 1:14 pm, 26-Aug-2014

Come on everyone it's very early days and we have made too many mistakes but there is plent of time to put them right. Hock will go and uncle Festa will arrive soon to fix things. We have the team, the current 'manager' just does not know who to pick and is repeating his much more experinced predecessor's line up, which lets face it almost got us relegated last year. Out with the old in with the new and onward and upward Marching on Together!!!

Bert Lusconi 1:57 pm, 26-Aug-2014

I started off by attempting to read your content as links are posted to NewsNow which I've used for years regarding all things Leeds United. Your content is so silly and juvenile that I just resorted skimming. And, yes the same themes appear consistently. The Big C (who represents everything you admire "evil genius"); lionised, praised and adored. David Hockaday (who represents everything you've come to loath "medieval peasant," "pig" ) Northern, working class, humble and decent. Women (objects for your juvenile sexism) So let's examine a brief example of some of your nonesense "Cellino Loves This Club, Our Fans & Will Deliver What We Crave" 9 April 2014 "Yesterday, the first official day of Massimo Cellino’s reign at Leeds United" 9 April 2014 How you can reconcile the first (badge-kissing bullshit) assertion, unless of course you're a Public Relations Insider, Communicating Knowledge, with the second statement isn't obvious to me. Straying into the dark recesses of the, all too apparent, childish psychosexual analogies that you frequently abuse. I'd say a declaration of love on behalf of the convicted fraudster is a somewhat premature ejaculation. "Look at the expressions on their faces, they have no idea what they are doing, there (sic) eyes have gone, they realise that they are in way out of their depth." 25 July 2014 To deliberately misquote Steven Patrick Morrissey "Projection is one thing, but projection from a fool is cruel." How the fluck can someone who "work[s] in finance," (whatever that means! If Geraint Anderson's ‘Excruciatingly candid,’ ‘primer to back-stabbing, bullying, drug-taking, gambling, boozing, lap-dancing,’ ‘effective indictment of the narcissism and decadence of City life,’ has resonance with your good; dyed-haired, perma-tanned, self, then I'm on the right track), has never managed a football team and has no (and I'm taking a leaf out of your book and asserting from ignorance here) coaching qualifications, be so arrogant to assume they can comment, with any reasonable insight, on a hard-working, humble and respected coach? You went on to opine "Hock is like a junior employee who flukes his way to a senior position in a large corporate and spouts bullshit to try and keep his head above water, is he the David Brent of football?" Pure unitentional, self-revelatory, embarrasing admission of Mr Sherman's own feelings about his personal transformation from grandad's knee to the Big C's Shard! If the bullshit spouting on this web-site by Mr Sherman is mirrored by his ejaculations in his "work in finance," then such unintentional revealations are understandable. I look forward to the youtube video of Mr Sherman, eyes wide shut, unintentionally recreating David Brent's look-at-me dance. Indeed if you place a Brent style goatee on Mr Sherman ... Voila! There's an interesting interview on youtube with the comedian Roseanne Barr (entitled Roseanne Breaks the Set on the Vatican, 9/11, House of Saud & Geriatric Porn) wherein, commenting on rule by psychopaths, she asserts (right at the start of the interview) that MK Ultra mind control trains people never to blame the guilty, instead to point the finger downwards at the helpless and never upward at the guilty. Now I don't know why she mentions MK Ultra; but she has a point. At Leeds United we have a convicted criminal as "president" and a self-described "nobody" as a first team coach appointed by the fraudster. Have a guess which one Mr Sherman feels is worthy of adulation and which one is worthy of ridicule? Stop whingeing Mr Sherman if you can't take it .....

@SporcoLeeds 7:35 pm, 26-Aug-2014

Bert, you are a much better writer of pure unadulterated drivel than you give yourself credit for, maybe you should start a blog. I write because I enjoy it and many readers enjoy reading it, if you don't like it, why bother writing comments. Your criticism is pointless and making personal comments is juvenile in the extreme, go fuck yourself.

Bert Lusconi 7:53 pm, 26-Aug-2014

Just spoke to David Hockaday and he told me to say to you "making personal comments is juvenile in the extreme, go fuck yourself."

Bornawhite 7:54 pm, 26-Aug-2014

It's hard to follow Bert Lusconi's post. Ardent yet clearly frustrated fan mail from a spurned former lover perhaps ? In the meantime can I just add ( while you two sort a room ) that Hockaday may yet surprise a few people and by that I don't mean he will still be the coach for the Bolton game. He could be footballs answer to Susan Boyle......you never know.

Frank White 6:59 am, 27-Aug-2014

More please, from Bert Lusconi. Sand Jockeys? Banter?

Bert Lusconi 7:48 pm, 27-Aug-2014

Now, now, now Bornawhite stop displacing your feelings for perma-tanned Paul onto me. Release your inner [Sher]man love and send him that SuBo CD! You know you want to "Bring Him Home" to meet your parents.

Bert Lusconi 9:42 am, 29-Aug-2014

The Big C banged to rights by legendary midfield maestro. Unlike certain people who seem to think this fraudster can do no wrong Johnny Giles nails it! "I think this fella is a headbanger, that owner; I think he only employed that coach so that he could pick the team, bring the players in that he wants. "No manager worth his salt will touch that job. This fella should make himself manager and pick the team himself. He employed this lad from nowhere, paying him buttons apparently."
