A frankly bizarre video from a Syrian news channel has claimed that Messi and his Barcelona team-mates use their dribbling skills to send messages to warring Syrian rebels
Lionel Messi and his Barcelona team-mates have been involved in attempts to smear Syrian rebels. In a move that could invariably be described as convuluted, desperate or just plain bonkers, the voiceover over this video shown on state channel Al-Dunya says that the runs and passes Iniesta, Messi and eventual goalscorer Pedro make are reflective of the movements that rebels appear to be making in delivering a shipment of guns in the north of the country.
Reports from this website seem to suggest its real, while there is some (understandable) doubt to its validity and there are suggestions it is fake and an attempt by rebels to smear the, ahem, good name of Assad’s regime. Either way, it’s very silly indeed.
