Having developed into one of the most consistent centre halves in the country this season, Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny is not short of admirers.
The French stopper, who is currently locked in contract negotiations with the North London club, is looking less likely to commit to the Gunners’ cause with every day that passes, and that has sparked interest from all over the continent, with the likes of Bayern Munich, PSG and Monaco all readying their chequebooks.
But in a blow to Arsenal fans, it appears that their star defender could yet make a surprise move across the capital - into the waiting arms of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
Having only offered captain John Terry a one year extension on reduced money, the Blues are considering the possibility that they may well be a central defender short at the beginning of next campaign - and Koscielny would fill that void nicely.
It would certainly be a heartbreaking development for Arsenal fans, but, as always, In Arsene They Trust, and if you believe some sources, it appears that the boss might be looking to Man United’s £12 million rated Chris Smalling as a potential replacement.
The gangly stopper has already admitted that he is a Gunner through and through, and he nearly made a move to the Emirates from Fulham back in 2010, but it didn’t develop.
Either way, it looks like there may well be some movement on the transfer merry-go-round this summer. Would Arsenal fans be happy to lose their most solid defender if it meant they could sign the young, English international in return?
