Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has apologised after sending abusive text messages to a fan allegedly calling him "a retard" and "educationally subnormal".
The texts came after Oyston's phone number was posted onto a social media site by Blackpool fans angry with the club's position this year. Oyston received "a barrage of abuse" from fans but has apologised "unreservedly" for the texts sent in retaliation. He told the BBC "My mobile number was placed on a social media website recently and it led to a barrage of abuse about my mother, father, wife, children and myself. In hindsight the aim of this was clear, and I foolishly opted to challenge some of the abuse, harassment and threats."
Blackpool remain bottom of the Championship after losing 6-1 to Bournemouth on Saturday.
