What a season it has been at the Football Shirt Collective. We have received over a hundred football shirts to share on the site - some amazing and some equally disgusting (see Sunderland goalie kit).  There have been some brilliant favourite football shirt contributions from the likes of Amy Lawrence and Max Rushden, and we have been witness to some immense collections (check out the Crystal Palace kit).

Here are some of our favourite football shirt offerings of the past year via Africa, Japan and … Bradford.

If you have a classic football shirt to share let us know on twitter, or facebook and we will get the best on our site.

1.  INTER MILAN, UMBRO, 1993/4 COURTESY OF @Lennytwentytwo

We love diagonal striped shirts at the football shirt collective and here is one of the best.  This Inter shirt from the Bergkamp era has it all. White, gold star and a blue and black diagonal stripe.

2.  CRYSTAL PALACE, BUTKA, 1990 COURTESY OF @BEYONDRETRO

This Crystal Palace shirt was made famous by Mark Bright and Ian Wright banging in the goals for the Eagles.  It came to our attention as part of the Beyond Retro, Beyond the Terraces collection.

3. AC MILAN, ADIDAS, 1984 COURTESY OF AMY LAWRENCE

We have had this AC Milan shirt on the site a few times.  We think it is a classic and so does Amy Lawrence.  This was her favourite football shirt.  It is timeless.

4.  BORUSSIA DORTMUND, NIKE, 1999 COURTESY OF @MAPLO16

In May this year we saw the Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich Champions League final at Wembley.  It also brought to us this cheeky Dortmund shirt.  More of a mustard than a bright yellow but we liked it none the less.

5.  SUNDERLAND, AVEC, 1995

Have you ever seen a more disgusting goalie shirt then this?  No.  Neither have we.  Magnificent.  Well done Sunderland.

6. SHIMZU S PULSE, PUMA COURTESY of @CHRISKIRKOAFC

Map of the world on a football shirt.  What’s not to like?  Personally I think Japanese shirts are the best.  Creative and fun.  Much better than the boring Nike Premiership clone kits.

7. CAPE VERDE, TEPA, 2012 COURTESTY OF NICK WARRICK

The African Cup of Nations was brilliant this year. Not only did we see the rebirth of Nigeria, the rise of Burkino Faso but we also witnessed a magnificent collection of football shirts. This Cape Verde shirt was courtesy of Nick Warrick who is on a mission to collect every one of the 209 FIFA international football shirts.  This is one of the most popular shirts we have on the collective.

8.   DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO, ERREA, 2013 COURTEST OF @danjaydubya

Keeping with the African theme is this awesome Democratic Republic of Congo shirt. Bright colours with a diagonal stripe. Magnificent.

9.  BRADFORD CITY, ADMIRAL, 1987/8COURTESY OF BANTAMS BANTER

To celebrate Bradford City reaching the final of the Carling Cup Bantams Banter shared their first and favourite football shirts.  This classic Bradford City shirt oozes class.  It also has a random sponsor; ‘Bradford Great City’ – which we are all for at the collective.

10.  SOUTHEND UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB, 1997 COURTESY OF IAIN MACINTOSH

This Southend offering was introduced to us via Iain MacIntosh through his favourite football shirt interview. It is bold and bright with a big splat of yellow.
