1992's Hard Boiled is seen by many to be the quintessential Asian action film, and indeed one of the greatest examples of the genre ever. It was John Woo's last film before making the move to Hollywood, and it's probably one of the best looking gangster flicks of the '90s.
Tony, the crime boss Uncle Hoy's nephew and cold blooded killer, is undoubtedly the sharpest knife in the drawer. The scene where he irons out a Malaysian terrorist in the library with full double breasted swagger is essential viewing for anybody looking for '90s inspiration.
