For the princely sum of $412 per night, a maximum of two people can enjoy the benefits of Netflix and—ahem—chill with total guaranteed privacy in the city’s West Village neighbourhood.

As well as being able to lounge on the original Netflix n chill bed, those willing to stump up the cash can make the most of a fully stacked mini bar, a HD projector connected with the new AppleTV, a Netflix account (obviously) and surround sound speakers placed around the bed.

On the off chance that you decide to leave the comfort of your bright red duvet cover, you can treat yourself to a beautiful view of the famous New York skyline via rooftop access.

There are some strict rules you must adhere to however. No more than two guests and no animals.

The people behind the idea are conceptual art company Art404 and ‘internet artist’ Tom Galle. Speaking to Sabotage Times, Tom Galle said there is no particular message behind the project, but rather it was something that was bound to occur sooner or later.

"Memes constantly evolve and get re-appropriated, and we felt that the idea of bringing a meme to life and offer it as a real experience or service that people can rent would be bringing it a step further" he said.

“I guess it is the first meme that gets a real life extension in this sense though but the internet is a big place. I’m sure a lot of people have had a similar idea.”

“It’s been only for 5 hours now,” said Tom. “It’s generating a lot of buzz, it’s hard to follow up. We had our first booking just now and expecting more soon.”
