Abate To Arsenal? Here's Why Wenger Wants The Italian Wing-Back

Despite the disappointing loss to Manchester United, Wenger's Arsenal are really flying this season. To maintain their momentum, however, they need to sign well in January and their lack of cover at right-back has been a common criticism for a while.

It's easy to ignore full-backs as merely 'people who tackle wingers' but the position has practically overtaken traditional wingers in terms of attacking and that's why Wenger is after one of the best in AC Milan's Ignazio Abate. Good going forward AND in defence, the Italian international's intentions seem to have been made clear to the club who are already eyeing up his possible replacement, according to the Express.

Arsenal fans: Do you think Abate would be a replacement for Sagna or merely very capable back-up? Let us know.
