According to reports, Arsenal have beaten Manchester City to the signing of 17-year-old French midfielder Ismaël Bennacer.
Aside from the fact that he has an umlaut in his name, Arsenal fans should be glad their club seems to have beaten off the competition and won the race for one of Europe's most talented youngsters.
Bennacer will be Arsenal's 7th youth signing of the summer as their switch to a more ruthless market strategy continues to prove fruitful.
Bennacer currently plays for Ligue 2 outfit AC Arles-Avignon. Despite having only played 6 matched for the club, his performances for France's u17s have been very impressive indeed. So impressive that Arsenal were prepared to offer the youngster a lucrative 5-year-deal and pay a £150,000 compensation fee for the player.
