Arsenal are reluctant to be drawn into a bidding war for Raheem Sterling, especially if the price remains at £50m, but could consider putting together a cash-plus-player deal for the winger.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of Sterling's and was keen on signing him when he left Queens Park Rangers for Merseyside in 2010.

And while Wenger isn't keen on paying extortionate prices for transfers this summer, a deal involving Theo Walcott could be the best for both parties. According to the Evening Standard, Brendan Rodgers has monitoring the England international's contract negotiations with Arsenal, leading to suggestions that swap deal of sorts could be negotiated.
