It's the news Arsenal fans have been waiting for all summer, and it looks like a deal for dream striker Karim Benzema could actually be ON, according to reports.
Rumours started this week of Arsenal putting in a £31.3m bid for the French international which everybody, probably Wenger included, expected to be rejected. But according to The Metro reports in Spain suggest Madrid are set to accept the bid, handing Arsenal their dream striker ahead of next season's campaign.
Those reports have now been backed up by French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, who confirmed Wenger's interest in signing the striker and suggested contact had been made.
Benzema doesn't want to be a bench warmer at Real and has been reconsidering his future at the club, with many a European team circling in anticipation.
It's understood that the Spanish giants will use the transfer money towards signing Liverpool target Marco Reus as a replacement, as the Dortmund forward is known to be highly rated by Benitez.
