Arsenal are ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for Real Madrid's Brazilian defensive midfielder Lucas Silva, according to the Express.
Silva is believed to be surplus to requirements at Real Madrid, despite only signing for Los Blancos last summer. The 22-year-old joined Real from Brazilian side Cruzerio for £9.7m, but Arsenal were heavily linked with him that same transfer window.
It seems that Arsenal, along with Chelsea and United are now sniffing around the talented midfielder again as they all look to add title-winning depth to their squads.
Arsenal's surprise loss against West Ham in their first game of the season showed a distinct lack of balance in midfield, primarily because of Francis Coquelin's inability to consistently pass the ball accurately and effectively. Possession retention and temp dictation is something Silva has in addition to his physical presence. Perhaps that's why Arsenal have suddenly upped their interest.
