Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger is ready to return for Schalke star Julian Draxler and is willing to offer €30m (£21m) for the player in order to fend off Juventus, according to Italian reports.

Juventus have already had a bid rejected by Schalke, and today the German club's managing director claimed that they would only consider 'an astronomical offer' for Draxler.

Even though the reported fee Arsenal are willing to pay may not be enough to persuade Schalke to part with their prized asset in itself, the player may be able to apply some pressure. Schalke failed to qualify for the Champions League last season and will be settling for Europa League this time around, which is not the level Draxler wants to be playing at.

Wenger is a big fan of Draxler and it's thought that he tried to sign him in the January of 2014, but failed with a last minute bid. At 21-years-old Draxler is still very young and his talent is such that he could yet be moulded into a world class central striker, which may be the long-term plan in Wenger's mind. It's certainly one to keep an eye on...
