Arsenal To Miss Out As Chelsea Swoop For William Carvalho?
Plot. It thickens.
Young, exciting, proven on the continent and value for money, William Carvalho ticks every Wenger transfer box. More importantly, he’s a player in a position Arsenal haven’t been strong in for longer than is probably acceptable. Unfortunately for Arsenal, they've also got Arsene Wenger in the hotseat: a man who's the managerial equivalent of a man spending so long to decide which burger he wants in McD's that he ends up being thrown aside by the hostile mob of a queue gathering behind him.
One of those angry in the queue is Jose Mourinho's unstoppable juggernaut Chelsea as the Guardian reports they are closing in on a signing of the player for £35million - because Jose's not an idiot and when he wants, he buys. Trouble is, they don't ACTUALLY need him. Not like Arsenal do. Here's why Arsene shouldn't miss out:
Sporting are a club that pride themselves on the players they create, and this is another exceptional talent from the production line: ball-winning from defensive midfield with the ability to burst forward and influence the attacking play, Carvalho will have no problem fitting in at a club with a clear identity and yet... AND YET. Arsenal are in desperate need but Wenger remains stoic in his tactical idiocy.
There’s a rumoured £37m buy-out clause in place, but given the player the 22-year-old is, and could turn out to be yet, this should be a no brainer. Arsenal's loss could be Chelsea's sizeable gain.
