According to the Metro, Spurs are preparing to replace Toronto bound Jermain Defoe with Lyon's powerhouse forward Bafetimbi Gomis. Fortunately for Tottenham, the Frenchman's contract is running down and he should be available for a bargain £5m.

Looking at this video, it's obvious that Sherwood would be emulating former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp's wheeler-dealer exploits by securing such a bargain.
