Barcelona Eye Shock January Arsenal Raid

Publish date:

According to reports in the Catalan newspaper AS, Barcelona could be eyeing up a surprising swoop for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott in this coming transfer window, following the club's recent struggles with departures and long-term injuries.

Following an injury to Rafinha Alcantara, and the departure of Pedro in the summer, AS reports that Luis Enrique recognises the need to add another attacking threat to his already-star studded squad, with Walcott allegedly being one of the players being looked at.

Walcott has only recently committed his future to Arsenal, signing a contract with the club until 2019, however with the club's perpetual striker drought rumbling on without Walcott being trusted up front, Barcelona could prove to be a tempting new challenge to a player who has never quite settled in Arsenal's starting eleven.

However, Arsenal would doubtlessly demand a fee in excess of £30 million for Walcott, and with other options out there - available for considerably less and offering considerably more - a move for Walcott seems unlikely for the Catalan outfit.
