Brazilian youngster Wellington Silva has been waiting a long time for his chance to show fans what he can do in an Arsenal shirt, but will he get his chance this season?

Silva was only granted a work permit in the new year, whilst still on loan at La Liga side Almería. The 22-year-old tipped to be one of the next big things in Brazilian football in his youth and has been compared to the likes of Neymar. However, since signing for Arsenal, he has somewhat stagnated as a result of loan after loan to lowly Spanish sides.

Silva's talent is clear and as an explosive winger with plenty of tricks in his bag, he's a player who can really hurt teams. His confidence and eagerness to play exciting football will no doubt grab Arsène Wenger's attention...

Arsenal, however, have a plethora of wingers and forwards who can play wide and they may yet add another in this transfer window. So, like Joel Campbell last season, is there really room for another young attacking talent trying to prove his worth? Silva's exclusion from the Singapore tour squad may suggest there isn't.

With players like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Serge Gnabry and perhaps even Alex Iwobi (who was so very impressive against the Singapore XI) ahead of Silva in the pecking order, it seems unlikely he'll get enough game time to really make an impact. A Carling Cup run might help him get his foot in the door, but even then it'll always come down to how highly Wenger and his coaching staff rate the 22-year-old and how well they think he suits Arsenal's approach.

Another loan seems likely for Wellington Silva, but perhaps if Wenger gets a proper look at him in the Emirates Cup, he may opt to hold onto the Brazilian. All that waiting for a permit, but no chance to play? Surely not...
