Former Celtic star and Dutch international Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has given a public warning to Virgil Van Dijk over his choice of club this summer.
The Dutch centre back has been linked with a move away from Parkhead to the Premiership, with Arsenal and Spurs both reportedly interested in his signature.
Speaking to the Daily Record, fellow countryman Vennegoor of Hesselink said
"I would warn him that the grass is not always greener.”
“Van Dijk has to choose a stable club and one that is good for his development....He needs a team that can maybe help him become a regular in the Dutch squad."
Celtic have also been linked with Dutch U21 left back Mitchell Djiks.
The 22 year old left-back, who can also play as centre-half, is only half way through a 2-year deal at Willem II and is understood to be valued just shy of £1m.
