Guus Hiddink wants a new striker at Chelsea and their plans could have a big impact on Spurs.
With the Blues short on cover for Diego Costa and Loic Remy, the new Chelsea manager is said to want to bring Saido Berahino to the club. Berahino is a long-term target for Tottenham, who made a series of bids for the England U21 striker over the summer.
It was thought that Spurs were still interested in the striker in the January window, with the North Londoners also searching for cover up front.
Yet there are alternate rumours that could spell good news for Tottenham. Another striker that has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is the former Spurs player Emmanuel Adebayor.
Adebayor is now a free agent having been let go by Tottenham in the summer, but the club still pay his £100,000 a week salary. Should the Togo international move to Chelsea, they would have to pick up his wages, freeing up cash for a Spurs spending spree.
