Chelsea are looking to make a £30m bid for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to the Metro.
The Argentine forward scored 29 goals last season and registered 11 assists. At 27-years-old, Higuain isn't young, but he's certainly experienced and proven.
With Napoli failing to qualify for the Champions League and Rafa Benitez on his way to Real Madrid, Higuain will most likely be hunting for a new, competitive club.
Arsenal have long chased Higuain and a deal was thought to be all but done in the summer of 2013. Somewhere between Arsène Wenger changing his mind and Real Madrid moving the goalposts meant the deal was never finalised.
Chelsea will no doubt be more ruthless than their London rivals in the transfer market and £30m to them is but a drop in a very well preserved and FFP compliant ocean.
The only threat to Chelsea is Manchester United, who are also reportedly interested in Higuain. However, United have been linked to almost every striker under the sun, so a pinch of salt is recommended.
