Chelsea: Why Mourinho's Returning To Madrid For JT's Successor

Last year Raphael Varane looked set to be at the heart of Real Madrid's defence for years to come. The 21-year-old read the game superbly, he was cool under pressure, and classy on the ball. Sadly for the young Frenchman, injuries and the form of Pepe and Sergio Ramos have largely kept him out of the team this season.

His former boss Jose Mourinho has been watching on with interest, and now the Express are linking Chelsea with a move for the centre-back. John Terry has been great this year, but he can't go on forever, and Mourinho views Varane as a potential successor. David Luiz is probably off as well, so the Blues could do with some extra cover, even with Kurt Zouma already coming in. The defender wouldn't come cheap, but he'd be a great investment in both the short and long-term.

Should Mourinho bring his former player to Stamford Bridge?
