Sunderland have confirmed the signing of French midfielder and ex-Arsenal target Yann M'Vila on loan from FC Rubin Kazan.

The midfield rock was reportedly on course to sign for Arsenal in 2012 in what was one of the most bizarre and, quite frankly, ridiculous transfer sagas of all time. M'Vila must've had about fifteen medicals at Arsenal that summer with the deal being 'agreed' or '99% done'. All the world's media was fooled by the French press being sold sensationalist stories and, in hindsight, you can't help but laugh.

Now, however, Sunderland have actually signed Yann M'Vila on loan and there are real pictures of the player holding up the shirt. He may not be in the red and white that many over-excited Gooners had photoshopped him into 3 years ago, but he will most likely be playing at the Emirates Stadium next season in Sunderland's away fixture with Arsenal.

It's a funny old game this one...
