Cesc Fabregas was sent off in bizarre circumstances in Chelsea's game against West Bromwich Albion last night, but the ex-Arsenal man has already flown out to the South of France.

The Daily Mail report that Fabregas touched down in Nice airport this morning, just hours after seeing red in Chelsea's 3-0 loss to West Brom. The Spaniard was with his heavily pregnant wife and their daughter Lia.

Arsenal fans will remember that Fabregas missed the last game of the season the year he left for Barcelona because he was in Monaco watching the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Well, it may come as no surprise then that practice for this year's Monaco Grand Prix starts on Thursday. Could Fabregas really do the same again? He may catch the qualifying on Saturday, but surely he'll be back for the Premier League Trophy presentation on Sunday.

Although, on the other hand, perhaps it's not such an odd occurrence. Eden Hazard went on holiday in the days after Chelsea clinched the league title at home to Crystal Palace. Maybe Fabregas hadn't got his mini-break yet...
