Would you believe it, Rafa Benitez is looking likely to make Raheem Sterling his first transfer target, should he take over at Real Madrid, according to The Mirror.

The ex-Liverpool boss has been heavily linked with the vacant position at Madrid after former manager Ancelotti was sacked this week, despite winning the Champions League.

Benitez was key in bringing Sterling to Anfield during his time as boss there in 2010, and could offer the young international the money he so strongly desires.

Sterling has turned down a £90,000 a week deal in a very public spat with the club, with 20-year-old also seeming to have lost the backing of the fans. Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea have also been linked.

What do you think Liverpool fans? Is there any way back into Anfield now for Sterling? Let us know in the comments below.
