Tottenham moved into the top four this weekend and fans of the club will be surprised at the former player who is tipping them to qualify for the Champions League.
Sol Campbell, who angered Spurs supporters when he left to join Arsenal on a free transfer, spoke exclusively to 888sport.com ahead of Arsenal's match against Manchester City and revealed his admiration for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
“Unless Liverpool keep on improving – and they’ve got a great squad and manager - because for me they’re the only one who can threaten that fourth spot for Spurs.
“This season they’re playing fantastic and very in sync. The team is helping but once the team stops helping that’s when more pressure is put on them.
“I look at individuals and how they cope under pressure when they’re on their own or exposed. You’ll not always have the team around you to help out and sometimes you’ve got to break out and you’re vulnerable.
“That’s when I’ll see what kind of player you are when 15 times in a game you’re outnumbered and have to make it work. I want to see that more and obviously I will as the season goes on and the team gets tired. As more gaps appear lets see how they work it out and be solid.”
Despite Campbell’s support for Tottenham, we can’t help thinking that he has a long way to go to get the fans back on side. Read the full and frank interview – including Campbell’s thoughts on Calum Chambers and Barcelona – here.
