Lyon's French hitman Alexandre Lacazette has hinted that it will be a Champions league club he moves to if he does leave, thus opening the door for Manchester United and slamming it shut on Liverpool.
Manchester Evening News have published Lacazette's most recent quotes regarding the situation.
He said: “I have not made my decision.
"I will go on holiday, leave my agent to discuss things, for him to look after all that.
“When? That is the question. I could stay at Lyon next season and have a terrible season, I could leave and have an incredible season.
“Everything depends on the destination. It would have to be for a Champions League club.
But today, between leaving and staying, it is not 50-50. It is zero. I am not thinking about it. I am going to enjoy the national team and I will think about it after.”
Both Manchester United and Liverpool have previously been linked to Lacazette, but now it looks impossible for the Scousers to sign him.
With 31 goals in all competitions this season, Lacazette is one of the deadliest attackers around and would be the perfect addition to a United team that is crying out for young natural goalscorer. With Robin van Persie looking likely to leave and Wayne Rooney past his prime, Louis van Gaal may see Lacazette as the perfect solution.
