Hartlepool United’s assistant manager Sam Collins could probably do with a nice, tall Tom Collins after his Twitter account was hacked in the early hours of Wednesday by somebody claiming to be his wife.
The hacker alleged that the former Huddersfield, Bury, Port Vale and Hull player had been playing away with a woman who was named in a series of damaging tweets.
The tweets remained online for eight hours until finally being removed.
His account has since been deactivated along with that of Collins’ wife, who claimed responsibility for the outburst.
Speaking to a tabloid newspaper, Mrs Collins said: “I tweeted it. But I don’t want to say anything more for the sake of our children.”
Mrs Collins denied deleting the tweets before deactivating.
