Chelsea have joined the race to sign 20-year-old Argentine defender Emanuel Mammana and can get him for as little as £8m, according to Goal.com.
Mammana, who currently plays for Argentine giants River Plate, is a very highly rated ball-playing centre-back who can also be used as a full-back. His play has attracted interest from Italy too, with Inter Milan and Fiorentina thought to be interested.
With a contract that expires in 2019, Mammana has a release clause of £11m. However, a Goal.com source claims that 'if Chelsea put up £8m, they will get Mammana.'
It's believed that Mammana's agent has already been in London for initial talks with Chelsea and will fly to Italy next week to put the feelers out in Milan and Florence.
