Iker Muniain To Spurs? Here's Why Tim Wants To Beat Man United To 'Spanish Messi'
Previously linked with a move to the Red half of Manchester, Spanish paper Marca have reported that Tottenham "We Love To Buy Wingers, We Really Do" Hotspur have offered €22million for Bilbao's brilliant Basque forward, Iker Munian. (Warning: That Spanish link might be in, you know, SPANISH)
Getting dubbed the 'New' anyone always brings with it its own pressures but Bilbao's Iker Muniain seems to thrived on comparisons to Barça legend (and probably the best player of all time) Lionel Messi. Boasting similar attributes, 20-year-old Basque native Muniain is obviously not in the same league (well, LITERALLY he is) as the Argentine superstar but he's skilful and fast, with an eye for a pass not often seen in players who move as quickly as he.
While not yet the finished article, he's a player who is deadly on the counter-attack and would definitely inject a bit of life into a Spurs attack that's only just started to look fresh again.
Bilbao haven't exactly set the league alight after losing a few key players in recent years and, while Muniain has remained, he looks sure to be the next one out the door. His pace, passing and direct dribbling would offer a great alternative to Andros Townsend's "RUN RUN SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT RUN SHOOT SHOOT" game.
Here's three-and-a-half-minutes of Iker Muniain ripping defences to shreds in La Liga but, tell us, do you reckon 22mil for a player unproven in the Prem is too much? How many Lamelas can one team take?
