Former Chelsea, West Ham and England Striker Carlton Cole has been training with Celtic in the hope of gaining a contract with the Scottish giants, but that could be in jeopardy after he limped off with a calf injury (Express) in a reserve game.

Cole is also thought to have an offer on the table from Qatar, but would prefer a move to Celtic. He would be ineligible for the Europa League campaign until January, while discussions continued between the player's agent and Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell.

Ronny Deila received a boost after striker Leigh Griffiths was given a £2,500 fine and a 2 game suspended ban rather than an outright suspension, but he is thought to want to add another striker to the squad.

Cole's future could depend on the extent of the injury he sustained, while the offer from Qatar could yet prove to be a lucrative one.
