Jay Rodriguez To Liverpool? There's No Saints Left
Ronald Koeman must have a plan up his sleeve, right? Since his arrival at Southampton this summer, the Dutchman's seen his new club's core ripped apart and left for him to piece back together - by that I mean Southampton's key players have been flogged.
Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren have all joined Liverpool, while Luke Shaw attempts to fill Patrice Evra's boots at Old Trafford. Also moving today was Callum Chambers who joins Arsenal, whilst Morgan Schneiderlin has also acquired interest from bigger clubs.
Brendan Rodgers doesn't fancy stopping at just three Southampton purchases this summer, mind, and according to TalkSport has declared his interest in bringing the Saints' last remaining, half-decent player Jay Rodriguez (pictured) to Anfield after a deal for QPR forward Loic Remy fell through.
The £8.5million fee the club were going to pay for Remy will most likely have to be doubled if they have any chance of landing 24-year-old Rodriguez, however it appears money's no object for Rodgers as he continues to make Koeman's first season in England his toughest.
Koeman did appear to see the funny side of the situation after he posted this on his Twitter page:
