Leeds United have been linked with a sensational move for the Uruguayan international left-back Alvaro Pereira.
The Inter Milan defender was linked with a move to Leeds back in January but instead opted to Estudiantes on loan. Now the opportunity of signing Pereira has emerged again, with the Argentinian club declining the opportunity to make the deal permanent.
Italy’s premier football authority Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Leeds are ready to make a bid, with Galatasaray also in the market for the 29-year old.
The 6ft tall Pereira has won 66 caps for his country and was part of the Uruguay side that reached the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup. He also notably faced England in the 2014 tournament, in which he was knocked out cold after a clash with Raheem Sterling, only to recover and play the full 90 minutes for his side.
Equally able to play on the left side of midfield as in defence, the former Porto favourite would add experience and quality to the ranks at Elland Road. Watch these highlights of him on his debut for Inter against Roma.
