Liverpool are battling Real Madrid for the signature of German attacking midfielder Marco Reus, according to The Metro

The Reds have been tracking the player for some time as a possible replacement for the outgoing Raheem Sterling, and Real Madrid see him as an attacking option if Karim Benzema decides to jump ship, possibly to Arsenal.

Reus' current club Borussia Dortmund are reluctant to sell, but any player is available at the right price, and with the Sterling money burning a hole in Rodgers' pocket he knows only big signings like Reus will please the ambition of the fans.

Reus has a scoring record of almost one in every two for Dortmund, an impressive stat for a midfielder, as well as 9 goals in 25 for the German national side.

Have a watch of his highlights reel and tell us you don't want to see him doing that in a Liverpool shirt. Go on.....
