The Daily Mirror report that Raheem Sterling, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, is close to agreeing a new deal at Liverpool. The Player himself has confirmed that "the club has spoken to [his] representatives and hopefully something can be done really soon."
As we know, a new contract don't necessarily mean a player is definitely staying, but 19-year-old Sterling seems determined to "achieve the goals [he] wants to achieve here at Liverpool in years to come". This doesn't just bode well for Liverpool fans, but also for the Premier League which wants to keep as much of the world's top talent here in England and reassert itself as the best league in the world.
Of course, Real Madrid are very hard to turn down and depending on how much money they're willing to spend, Sterling could well be on his way. However, for now the signs are promising.
