Man City: Life Is Good But Tactical Naivety Must End

One point away from the league title, Manuel Pellegrini can be very happy with his first season's work...

Man City: Life Is Good But Tactical Naivety Must End

What’s going right?

Everything right now. We had a bumpy few games in February and then a few slips against Sunderland and Liverpool, but right now everything is just fantastic. Despite often being characterised as a squad of feckless mercenaries by people who don't ever watch them play, it is quite clear that City's players are fighting hard for each other and have an abundance of team spirit. My sense of smug satisfaction is untouchable at the moment.

What’s not?

Aguero's continuing absence through injury is a pain in the arse, but it helps to put into perspective what a special player he is. He’s got 28 goals this year, despite missing almost half the season. Other than our Sergio, life is good right now.

Got the right manager?

Yes. Pellegrini has come in, calmed the place down, and got on with winning things. There are a few legitimate concerns - performance in the biggest games, some naivety against teams towards the bottom of the table - but he's done more than enough to earn a second season to put those things right. The beauty of these problems is that they are obvious and, therefore, fixable.

Star player?

David Silva. Simply the best! Better than all the rest! Etc etc

Who would you like to sell in the summer?

Scott Sinclair. He was a mistake which we need to be rid of. Other than that... I don't really want to sell anyone, but Richards is off (which breaks my heart) as is Lescott most likely. Also one of Kolarov or Clichy will be off, likely the terrifying Serbian as Clichy counts as a home grown player. I am also torn on Dzeko. Current form demands we keep him and build statues of him, but it's difficult to forget the first half of the season when he is utterly useless. Maybe sell Aguer... ahaha, no.

Who do you want to sign?

I can't give exact names, but a new left back is crucial along with another central defender. Lescott will be off, Nastasic is still learning and cult hero Martin Demichelis was never a long-term option. This Mangala has been linked to us for months and months now. Let's get him.

Best chant so far?

"City going down with a billion in the bank, a billion in the bank, a billion in the bank... We're going up, we're going down...." etc. I like this one because it speaks to the club's past, its present, and the black humour of the fanbase.

Best opposition player/team you’ve seen?

Eden Hazard at the Etihad when Chelsea beat us in the league was just unbelievable. Controlled, malevolent menace for 90 minutes. A terrifying player.

Biggest w***** of the season?

David Lynch in the MEN writing about empty seats at the Etihad. I'm used to the #Emptihad stuff, but getting your Microsoft Paint out and drawing little red circles on empty seats on a midweek night, when there have been traffic problems getting to the ground on a picture taken just before half time is the most petty, w*****ish thing I've seen all season. You can just see his little shit eating grin as he was doing this, sat at home, alone.

Have a look. He must have been zooming in to find them.

Funniest moment of the season?

The saga of General Rodgers on Red and White Kop. Just complete and utter eye bleeding insanity. "General Rodgers looked down at the massacre that lay behind him. He drank in the fresh smell of blood that was still lingering in the air and cast his eyes upon the bloodied ruins of a once proud city laid at his feet..."

Next season's prediction?

Champions again. Going to put that out there now. Quarter Finals of the Champion's League. Steady progression is the name of the game. Wouldn't mind another FA Cup run as well because day trips to Wembley are always fun.
