Man City: Liverpool's Daniel Agger & 4 More Players We Should Sign In January
Club: Paris Saint Germain
Blaise Matuidi is yet another player on this list whose contract ends this summer. The PSG midfielder was a fundamental part of the French Champion's title-winning team yet finds himself in an awkward position while contract negotiations linger on.
Manchester City have only 4 genuine midfielders and considering Rodwell's injury problems and Garcia's incompetence, Blaise Matuidi would be an excellent signing to keep Yaya and Fernandinho on their feet. City would do well to pinch him on a free, pre-contract in January.
If Joe Hart does not recover from his recent shenanigans, then Victor Valdes would be an excellent replacement. Valdes' decision to not renew his contract with Barcelona was met with shock after he claimed he wanted to experience a new challenge.
Despite talk of Monaco, Valdes could be tempted by ex-Barcelona executives Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano to team up with Pellegrini in Manchester next summer. For free, of course.
Club: FC Porto
City have been linked with Mangala for a while now but have reportedly balked at the £35m asking price typical of Porto. FC Porto are notoriously hard to budge when it comes to transfers yet the dominant Frenchman would be an excellent acquisition should Demichelis' & Lescott's future at the club be short.
The 22-year old would be a sound investment at such a young age should City being willing to spend that kind of money.
Carbello is probably the most likely target for Pellegrini to pursue in January. The Malaga keeper is a firm favourite of Pellegrini who admitted he was chased by City last summer.
At 32, Willy would be an excellent option for City should they wish to keep and protect Hart while providing him with adequate - not dominating - competition.
With the recent influx of centrebacks now plying their trade at Liverpool, Daniel Agger has found himself sidelined, making only 7 appearances this season. The Dane was linked heavily with Manchester City last year and has but only 8 months left on his current contract. With Lescott leaving this summer and Demichelis only a stop-gap solution, Agger would seriously strengthen City center-back options at a very low cost.
